Salaton Safaris is your safari guide and travel planner through Kenya and Tanzania.

Reservations and payments:

A deposit of 50% of the total tour price is required 60 days prior to the travel date to guarantee the booking. Bookings are however subject to availability and price quoted is subject to change without prior notice.

The remainder of the total quoted tour price is payable 30 days before arrival. Accepted methods of payment include wire transfer or via credit card. Payments via credit card however need to be agreed on in advance as a 3.5% surcharge will apply on the quoted rate.

Cancellations and Refunds:

Cancellations for paid up bookings to Salaton Safaris Limited are subject forfeit fees if cancelled within the following periods:

*60 – 30 days, 40% of tour cost;
*29 – 16 days, 60% of tour cost;
*Less than 16 days, 100% of tour cost.

No refunds are given for: lost travel time or substitution of facilities and/or accommodation; itineraries amended after departure; not appearing for any accommodation, tour, game viewing or other booked activities; and/or cutting short the booked itinerary for any reason.

All cancellations and notifications with respect to changes in the itinerary must be received in writing. Bookings not paid up within the stipulated period will be released with no contractual obligation to Salaton Safaris Limited.

Credit Card Authorization for Post-Booking Changes:

By confirming your booking with us you authorize Salaton Safaris Ltd to charge your credit card number for any change fees, price increases, or supplemental payments that you incur post-booking. If you prefer a different payment method, you must notify us in writing at the time of booking.

Accommodation:

All quoted tour prices include accommodation per person sharing in a double or twin room. There is a supplemental fee for single occupancy accommodation. In some lodges, children of a certain age are not permitted unless where advised accordingly.

Meals

Meals included in the tour price of the itinerary are stated as, B=Breakfast, L=Lunch and D=Dinner or as per meal plans; BB – Bed/Breakfast, HB – Halfboard, FB – Fullboard or AI – All inclusive.

Price Adjustments

The quoted tour price is based on tariffs, fees, airfares, and costs in effect at the time of confirming your booking. We reserve the right to increase the quoted price after booking if inflation, costs of fuel, labour or materials, airfares, supplier costs, currency exchange rates, tariffs, government fees, and admission charges change. You agree to and will pay for any price increase.

Baggage

You may take along two normal size pieces of luggage, not exceeding a total of 20kg per person. In the case of excess baggage, arrangements can be made for safe storage while on tour. All baggage held is at the tour member’s risk and Salaton Safaris Limited will not be held liable. We highly recommend baggage insurance.

Gratuities, Taxes and Entrances Fees:

Charges for hotel taxes are included, but not entrance fees to national parks and other wildlife reserves unless specifically indicated in our itinerary. The norm is that tips to driver-guides and escorts are not included and are at your discretion.

Not Included in Quoted Tour Prices:

The following items are not included in quoted tour prices: costs of obtaining passports or visas; personal expenses such as beverages, laundry and room service; gratuities to your safari escort, camp staff, driver-guides; excess baggage fees; communication charges; airport departure taxes; meals not specified in your itinerary; any airfares unless where specifically mentioned in the itinerary.

Passports and Visas:

You are responsible for ensuring that all necessary travel documents are valid and effective and in your possession for the entire tour. Passports are required for all U.S. citizens traveling abroad and should be valid for at least 6 months after your date of return. We suggest you apply for or renew a passport early. Other required documents may include visas, permits, and vaccination certificates. You assume complete and full responsibility for checking and verifying any and all passport, visa, vaccination, or other entry requirements. You are also solely responsible for any adverse consequences resulting from incomplete or defective documentation. While we may provide information or advice on matters such as visas, vaccinations, climate, clothing, baggage, and special equipment in good faith as a courtesy to you, we are not responsible for any errors or omissions as to the information provided.

Compliance with Local Laws and Tour Etiquette:

You must strictly comply with all local laws, respect local customs and culture, accurately assess your abilities, respect other trip members’ privacy, and follow the suggestions and advice of any assigned guide. The decision of the local guide or local supplier is final on all matters that may threaten the safety or interfere with the well-being of others. During the tour, Salaton Safaris Ltd or the local guide/supplier has the right in its sole discretion to remove anyone a) who it judges to be incapable of meeting the demands and requirements of participating in the tour activities; or b) who it determines to detract from others’ enjoyment of the tour.

Insurance:

We strongly recommend you protect yourself with a short-term traveler’s insurance policy to cover baggage loss, health, accident, medical emergencies and any unexpected trip cancellations.

Limitations of Liability:

Salaton Safaris, its Owners, Outfitters, Agents and Employees give notice that they act only as agent for the owners, contractors and suppliers providing means of transportation and/or all related travel services and assumes no responsibility whatsoever for injury, personal illness, loss or damage to person or property in connection with any service resulting directly from: act of God; detention; annoyance; delays; expenses arising from quarantine; strikes; thefts; pilferage; failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled; civil disturbances; terrorism; government restrictions or regulations; and discrepancies or changes in hotel services in which it has no control.

Salaton Safaris Limited and/or its local operators reserve the right to make reasonable changes in the itinerary when deemed advisable for the comfort and safety of passengers, which includes but is not limited to: the substitution of hotels, alteration of the itinerary, and reversing the order of the places to be visited.

Salaton Safaris Limited and its local operators, their tours and/or suppliers of services, and other co-operating agencies reserve the right to refuse individuals from a safari without refund who acts in a manner which is unsafe for themselves, or inconsiderate or unsafe to fellow travelers, and/or who ignores the requests of their guide (s) to act in a safe and responsible manner. On advancement of deposit to Salaton Safaris Limited, the depositor agrees to be bound by the above described terms and conditions. Salaton Safaris Limited hereby notifies all passengers that any matter or cases relating to any tour is subject to/or governed by the rules and laws of the country to which it takes place and no other country.

Risks:

Salaton Safaris Limited draws your attention to the fact that there are certain inherent dangers involved with adventure travel, and by booking a safari tour with us signifies your acceptance to travel at your own risk. It is however advisable to take health and travel insurance and a separate baggage loss insurance before arrival to East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda).
