The reserve offers a unique vista of rounded hills and undulating plains. The mix of wood and grassland with riverine forest and swamp is home to a wide variety of animals and birdlife.
Buffalo springs records over 365 species of bird. They include; helmeted and vulturine guinea fowls, sandgrouse and doves in addition to a galaxy of smaller birds.
Game includes reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, elephant, black rhino, ground squirrel, oryx, Somali ostrich, hippo, crocodile,gerenuk, buffalo, lion,leopard, cheetah and hyena.
Accomodation is found in the Samburu Game lodge sited on the edge of the Uaso Nyiro River.
Depart by road northwards to Samburu National Reserve, home to the “BIG Five” as well as other species of animals unique to this region such as Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe and the Somali Ostrich. Depart for Nakuru town which is the administrative capital of the Rift Valley Province. On location is Lake Nakuru an alkaline lake that attracts millions of colourful flamingoes – a haven for ornithologists. Take an afternoon game drive of Lake Nakuru National Park. Overnight in Nakuru
We take an hours’ drive to Naivasha, a largely horticultural town and home to Kenya’s second largest rift valley lakes.
Spend the day at leisure after which we can opt for a boat ride in the afternoon. The lake houses a big number of hippopotamus and over 450 species of birds.
Highly recommended is a visit to Crescent Island, a rare private game sanctuary where you can wander among the wildlife on foot. Herbivores such as waterbucks, impalas, wildebeests, and common zebras are some of the game present here.
Overnight in Naivasha
After breakfast, drive South West towards Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most famous and world renowned park, home of the annual wildebeest migration. After lunch take the first day afternoon game drive.
Key attractions: BIG Five and scores of other wild animals. Enjoy this atmosphere of unusual serenity and good view of animals, an ideal opportunity for photography.
Overnight at the Mara
Take an early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast.
(Optional and at own cost) Take an early morning hot air balloon flight for breathtaking views of the open grasslands, crowned with a champagne breakfast in the open bushes
Spend the rest of the day at leisure and return to the park for an afternoon game drive after lunch.
Overnight at the Mara
Another opportunity at the Mara for an adventure. Take early morning and afternoon game drives. Recommended is a visit to the Maasai Village where you get to interact with this community of people and their culture. (Optional).

We head back to Nairobi after our last morning at the Mara. Recommended is a shopping trip in Nairobi to the famous Maasai Market for African jewellery and craft. Overnight in Nairobi
We catch a flight to Mombasa and spend the day at leisure.
